This morning 2 young men arrived to load for the move. They were very courteous, professional and hard working. They were awesome. Hope they are the ones that unload for us in a couple days. Thank you Donald and David.
First of all, the men showed up positive and willing to work. Two of the men worked very hard while the other one stood around. We paid for three men but only two worked. They did an amazing job moving the things out of the house, but when it came to moving the things in the new house, attidutes changed and there was a lot of negativity and swearing. Because things got a bit hard (due to stairs), they basically gave up on the job. They left our sectional couch on the lawn and said they couldnt get it into the house and we will need to figure it out since its not their job and they dont have time. It was lifted up a 7 foot retaining wall and left on the townhouse shared back lawn. I asked why it couldnt go up the stairs like the rest of the furniture. The guy claimed he measured and it wouldnt fit.. but didnt actually try. He asked if I would like it moved into the garage until we can figure something out. I said yes. Then he was like no Im just gonna leave it here because it will be easier for you guys to move in when you remove the sliding doors to bring it in. Being 2 young woman and a young child, we were upset trying to figure out how to finish our move since our couch was on the back lawn with the pieces everywhere. After many phone calls for help with no success, our neighbor came and helped us. It turns out the couch fit up the stairs the whole time.. many tears and attempts to remove the sliding door later, the couch was brought into the living room effortlessly. If you want the job to get finished and professionalism, I would not recommend this company. :(
James and his crew were amazing. We had a reputable Kamloops moving company booked to move us from our home of 32 years on June 22, 2018 and they didnt show up. I tried phoning and messaging them but I couldnt get a response because it was a Sunday and their phone was turned off. Our son phoned from Nelson to see how our move was going and we told him the mover didnt show up. He phoned other movers and connected with Two Small Men with Big Hearts. Within 1.5 hours James had put a crew together and arrived at our home with his truck. They were very professional and quickly had our items loaded on the truck. They had two stops, one at the place we were staying and another at a storage facility. All of our furniture was wrapped in plastic and blankets. The cost of this last minute service from them wasnt any higher than what it would have been with the initial company. It was such a pleasure having James and his crew come to the rescue!
I want to start by saying everyone we had contact with from the movers to the owners were nice. They helped us out very last minute. The two young guys worked their butts off and took great care of our belongings. The problem we had all stemmed from a lack of communication between the out of town owner and the local person in charge. I wont get into details but just make sure you confirm everything you agreed to with the movers when they arrive. Everything from price per hour to timelines so there are no surprises. Our simple 45 minute pack, 45 min unpack + 2 hours of commute time turned into a two day ordeal which spiralled into a very stressful move for us when hiring them was supposed to reduce that stress.Edited to include some details based on the owners response.- we were quoted $120 an hour but halfway through the move they told us it was $150 because they decided to bring 3 men instead of 2.-we were told they would be there at noon, then they called and said the next day, then changed to 4pm then they showed up at 1:30pm. You could imagine how stressful this was on us when we canceled the uhaul we had booked for this company and we couldnt go back at that point.- we were told they had a four hour minimum which was fine for us as we knew the move was an hour unload, an hour load and two hours of commuting. It wasnt until they were finished loading that they told us that the guy had to pick up his son so couldnt unload that day and needed to store our stuff in his van and unload in the morning. Ok again, really not ideal and again not mentioned up front but have no choice but to move forward at that point. Then we were told we had to pay a four hour minimum for EACH day. Yes, even though the move was over two days at their (after the fact) request, not ours. I complained to the owner and he then agreed to reduce it to two hours the next day, still not fair service but nothing I could do. Then they forgot to get me to sign paperwork and tried telling me it was my responsibility to drive 3 hours round trip from Vernon to Kamloops to sign it. Even after all this, Id tried to give a fair review. We were not some victims who were desperate for their help. We were paying customers and didnt get treated very well. Very unfortunate. Please make sure what you agree to with the owner is on paper and review it with the front line staff before they start. Id like to think this was a series of miscommunications but based on no accountability, Im not sure thats what happened here.
Absolutely unprofessional. They mistreated my furniture ie broken lamp, broken pictures, broken expensive glassware in boxes and scratches, nicks in everything I own. Some furniture left in pieces. How they classify themselves as movers is beyond me. Never never would I hire them again.
